Having three children, my wife and I named our children months ahead of time to (with names picked out if they were a boy or girl) and I never really gave much thought to how difficult a task that could be.

We have a few sets of friends who are a few years behind us in the “baby realm” are and having their first kids. The amount of effort they’re putting in to finding baby middle names is pretty mind boggling. It’s apparently even more difficult if they when searching for baby boy names. The don’t want to go the more traditional route and name their children either after themselves (junior) or after the grandparents. They also don’t want to choose a middle name that belongs to their favorite stars (sports, movies, etc). They also don’t want to use common inanimate names like apple, star, silver, etc.

So in their quest for rare baby names, I can almost guarantee that as soon as they find the special one, they will instantly start seeing that name everywhere; much like when you buy a new car and then all of a sudden you see that car everywhere. It’s the nature of the beast.

So as the magic date approaches, they’re still without a middle name for their baby. If it’s a girl, they are close to settling, but choosing a baby boy name might just send them over the edge.

Any good sources for baby middle names would be appreciated, I’ll pass it on to them. If you happen across some that are truly unique, please feel free to comment.

I upgraded the site today to WordPress 2.3, which was a very easy process. Upgrading consisted of:

Downloading the 2.3 source files

Extracting the files locally

FTP’ing them to my server (overwriting the existing files)

Running the upgrade script (upgrade.php)

That was pretty much it.. took about 5 minutes. Now granted, the size of my site is pretty small, so depending on the size of your site, your mileage may vary. I also don’t use a large amount of plug-ins, so I had no compatibility issues.

Hello and welcome to my little section of cyberspace. My name is Christopher D. Rees, and this is my personal site that is used to keep people informed about my business, teaching schedule, upcoming video releases, etc. It is also a great starting point for students, other instructors, and IT professionals to gather information about testing, exam preparation and certification news whether you’re going for your MCSE, CompTIA A+ or Cisco CCNA or CCNP. Hopefully there is something here of interest and thanks for stopping by!

In addition to owning a training company specializing in Computer Based Training for the Information Technology industry (www.palaestratraining.com) I am an information technologist and experienced computer instructor/trainer/author with a pretty varied background. I currently hold several certifications including A+, Network+, Server+, MCP+I, MCSE, CCNA, CCNP and MCT. I am also a former law enforcement officer and detective who is a COPT certified law enforcement instructor.

I recently ported this over to WordPress, so I’m still getting used to the interface. I’ll certainly try to keep this as updated as possible. Please feel free to leave me comments or add you own two cents.
